Healing Ministry Resources
Some readers will become aware of a desire for healing ministry as you read. The following are some ministries I know and trust to be able to bring healing to the wounds of burden bearing wrongly. I have included geographical location to help you determine which ministry would be nearest you.
The Healing Tree is a prayer and teaching ministry located in Grand Rapids, MI. Any of the prayer ministers would be able to help bring healing to hurts from wounded burden bearing. They offer Elijah House teaching, schools, materials, alumni gatherings and training. They facilitate and host seminars about a variety of topics and provide prayer ministry.
Elijah House is a prayer and teaching ministry located in Spokane, WA. Any of their prayer ministers would be able to help bring healing to the wounds of burden bearing wrongly. Their website also has a referral list of people who had been ministering in an Elijah House style and who might work closer to where you live. Elijah House has a disclaimer statement that clearly acknowledges they do not have the staff to monitor or be responsible for these people. The people on this list should be familiar with burden bearing and a sensitive application of scriptural principles by the gifts of the Holy Spirit will be helpful to wounded burden bearers, but each person is responsible for testing and seeing if you and a prayer minister are working well together.
Mark Sandford, who originated some of the material from which parts of The Mystery of Spiritual Sensitivity were drawn, is the spiritual director for Elijah House. He and his Dad, John Sandford, also helped with the theological underpinnings of this book. Mark does prayer ministry, but also writes and teaches.
Shepherd's House is a prayer ministry and a teaching ministry and is located in Pasadena, CA. Any of the prayer ministers would be able to help bring healing to the wounds of burden bearing wrongly. They also have many excellent written and video resources for Christian growth and maturity. Dr. James Wilder, who I consulted for the appendix on the brain, is the director of Shepherd's House. He teaches extensively and develops materials to assist in maturity, spiritual growth and development.
Liberty Cross Ministry is in Liberty Lake, WA. Charlie F. Finck III, M.S. and Ed Kurath, M.S., co-founded Liberty Cross Ministry in 2001. They see individuals and specialize in marriage and family counseling. They teach through seminars and schools both nationally and internationally. They provide scripturally based prayer ministry to help heal the hurts of burden bearing wrongly.
Resurrection Christian Ministry is a ministry of restoration. Paul and Gretel Haglin have served the Lord for decades and have a heart for the wounded, and especially those hurt by burden bearing wrongly. They minister at a residential retreat, about an hour west of St. Louis, MO., offering prayer ministry in a casual setting, usually for extended time periods. Some accommodations are available on site.
In Canada
Listening Prayer Community is a network of Christians in various denominations in Greater Vancouver who are committed to a Biblically based ministry of spiritual and emotional healing and pastoral counseling with a head office in Mission, B.C. on the outskirts of Vancouver. They understand burden bearers.
Lion of Judah is in Victoria, British Columbia. Contact Bruce Friesen or his wife Lorraine Friesen since Bruce does a lot of traveling. They are familiar with wounded burden bearers.
