Carol was raised in a farming community
in Iowa for the first 16 years of life. The
family moved to Minnesota where she
finished high school and then pursued
academics.
She met her husband, David, during his
internship with Inter-Varsity Christian
Fellowship in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
They married in 1969, and have
ministered together in Idaho, Indiana,
Ohio, Australia, Germany, Finland, and
Canada, with David as pastor, prayer
counselor, and trainer, and Carol as
educator and helpmate. They have two
daughters and five grandchildren.
Carol received a B.A. in Anthropology and Languages from Bethel College, St. Paul, Minnesota in 1968, and elementary education teaching certification in 1972 from Boise State College, Boise, Idaho. While her children were small, she substituted in the local elementary school, helped out at church, and was a stay-at-home Mom. In 1986, she received her M.A. in College Instruction with special emphasis in English as a Second Language from Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA. She taught English language for foreign students at North Idaho Jr. College, Gonzaga University, and Whitworth College. She joined her husband at Elijah House, Inc., Post Falls, ID as Education Director in 1989.
In 1994 while teaching in Germany, she experienced physical difficulties that were later diagnosed as a benign form of multiple sclerosis (not progressive). She and her husband spent 8 years in Victoria, B.C. where David supervised the internship of Elijah House Canada. Carol spent that time as intercessor, in recovery, and writing The Mystery of Spiritual Sensitivity.
Carol enjoys writing, good conversation and humor, nature, music, pottery, kniting, crocheting, and painting. She and David worship at a bilingual church, The ROCK-Rio de Via, a bi-lingual fellowship in the Hispanic community of Grand Rapids, Michigan that is affiliated with The ROCK Tribe International.
Statement of Faith
I have taken hold of the eternal life to which I was called when I made my good confession in the presence of many witnesses. [i] At the age of 18, I was baptized as an expression of my faith in Jesus. I believethat he “died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and then appeared to many witnesses,” 1 Cor 15:3-6.
I believe the good news that Peter preached, Acts 2:14-41, and that Paul preached 1 Cor 15:1-11. I believe we are to depend on the Holy Spirit who conforms us to the character of Jesus, (fruit of the Spirit-Gal 5:16-26) and who equips us with the power of God, (gifts of the Spirit- Rom 12:6-21, 1 Cor 12:1-13, Eph 4:7-13).
I believe “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”, 2 Tim 16-17. Scripture is to be the standard by which all doctrine and creeds, people and ministries, rulers and ruled are to be measured.
May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Heb 13:20-21
[i] 1 Timothy 6:12. This and the other scriptures are from the New International Version
